Did you know from 1 November 2004 ... 01-Nov-04 This follows EC Regulation 2037/2000 controlling ozone depleting substances that have an adverse effect on the environment. Which means that it will now be illegal to operate buses, minibuses and coaches with fire extinguishers containing Halon 1211 or 1302. VOSA recommend these type of fire extinguishers be replaced immediately with ones containing water or foam, which comply with BS5423 or EN3 Regulations and have a minimum fire rating of at least 8A or 21B. Halon extinguishers can only be disposed of through registered waste disposal agents.
